Busting myths about water filters, water coolers and Quooker Boiling Water Taps

With it being the middle of the year and inbetween events, we thought we would take some time out to address some of the myths that float around the water filtration industry.

There are a few 'myths', questions and dilemmas we hear about on a regular basis and it is about time they were tackled. Often, they are myths bred from an old whisper in the ear or a lack of knowledge but they do raise legitimate concerns for our industry. The truth is we can't expect new customers if they don't have all the knowledge they need to make an informed decision.

Glacier Water Systems Ltd water filters last 2 or 3 years.

Well isn't it a good job that we have invested time, money and expertise into developing water filters that last 2 to 3 years?

You are right though - the majority of water filters on the market are cheap, small water filter cartridges which need replacing constantly even though they only filter out a small amount from our water.

But Glacier Water Systems Ltd have some super water filters that can last 2 years (GW3 Undersink Water Filter) or 3 years (GW1 Undersink Water Filter), while taking substantially more out from the water, including all the water in your location if you go for a whole house water system.

Logically speaking, if the Quooker boiling water taps were dangerous, would they be one of the world's leading boiling water brands? Would they hold over 40 patents for a dangerous product? Would over 40,000 households across Europe own one?

But we take your point - it can be a little daunting to think that boiling water comes straight out of a tap in the kitchen.

But be assured of the safe delivery with Quooker. They have been in production for 25 years, honing the safest requirements. All the Quookers are equipped with safety features including a push and turn handle to avoid accidental switch on. The Fusion even features a double push and turn handle. The Nordic range is height adjustable and has an insulated spout, allowing easy and safe filling of cups and pots.

But most importantly, the Quooker is a true 100 degrees producing product. What this means is that a little bit of steam comes out when the boiling water is turned on. This results in the formation of thousands of micro water droplets rather than one big solid energy flow, limiting the risk of burn injury.

Quooker Boiling Water Taps are safe to use.

Plumbed in water coolers for the home

Think again homeowners!

There are houses up and down the country with countertop water coolers and undersink chillers which are able to provide filtered, chilled and sometimes sparkling water! And believe us, they do not think "water coolers are not for the home".

There are lots of options - an undersink chiller with a stylish tap on the side of the sink, a unit that sits on the worktop (available in black, silver and white to match all locations), or a floorstanding cooler that is great for home gyms, garages and utility rooms.

"Thank you so much for my new Glacier u1 undercounter water chiller! Water smells and tastes a million times better! Highly recommend every household on mains water to get one of these, you will be amazed at the difference it makes to the colour and taste of your tap water!! I LOVE MINE!"

Wouldn't it be great if that were the world we lived in? Where the oil filter in the car didn't need changed, where the air filter in the vacuum didn't need replaced?

Water filters do need replaced after the recommended lifespan has elapsed because water filters are designed to absorb chemicals into their carbon membrane. Eventually, it will clog.. and smell.. and won't work any more.

Just because you can't taste the likes of chlorine and heavy metals in your water doesn't mean it is ok to drink. We recommend the GW1 under sink water filter is replaced after 3 years and the GW5 whole house water filters and the GW3 undersink water filter is replaced after 2 years because bacteria will have started to grow and it will be leaking into your water.
